Greek Salad with Avocado

This delicious Greek Salad contains pretty much all of your five a day in one meal. It Is also one of the easiest recipes I have or will ever cook but one of the most delicious.

Avocado is important for lowering and helping your cholesterol levels and in turn also contains lots of good monounsaturated fats. It is also low in sodium but high in fibre, helping disgestive systems and also high in vitamins and minerals.

Tomatoes are a naturally red fruit because they get their colour from lycopene, an antioxidant that protects our cells from cancer forming bad systems. They are also have a great source of both Vitamin C and A.

Cucumber is a vegetable high in nutrients and antioxidants but it also helps our bodies hydration. Did you know Cucumbers are 96% water and they contribute towards healthy weight loss diets.

Lettuce is a moderate source of Vitamin C and also contains great source of calcium and iron. Red Onions promote good heart health and they themselves contain antioxidants that fight inflammation and reduce cholesterol. Consuming red onion can also protect your body from potential blood clots.

Feta Cheese is high in fat and calories but very high in Protein and Calcium too and is one of the best cheeses that you can eat.

 

2 large tomatoes, cut into wedges ( 50 Calories, 0g Fat, 0g Carbs, 0g Protein)

1/2 cucumber, washed and then chopped in to wedges ( 8 Calories, 0g Fat, 1g Carbs, 1g Protein)

½ a red onion, thinly diced ( 38 Calories, 0g Fat, 8g Carbs, 1g Protein)

3 tbsp Greek extra virgin olive oil ( 375 Calories, 42g Fat, 0g Carbs, 0g Protein)

1 Avocado, thinly sliced ( 200 Calories, 15g Fat, 3g Carbs, 2g Protein)

 

1) Put all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well all together.

2) Serve with toasted Ciabatta.
